The Driving Theory Test
You must pass a theory test before you can take the practical part of your driving test. The theory exam is made up of two parts; the multiple choice test and the hazard perception test. At Simply the Best School of Motoring we can provide all pupils with advice on the resources and training you will need to pass the theory element of your driving test.
The Practical Driving Test
We will let you know when you are ready for your driving test and can advise on waiting times. The driving part of your test will last about 40 minutes. Throughout the test your examiner will be looking for an overall safe standard of driving, including when you are carrying out the set exercises. You are permitted to make up to 15 minor driving faults and still pass the test (16 or more results in failure). However, if you commit one serious or dangerous fault you will fail the test.
The test commences with an eyesight check, which requires you to read an old style number plate from 20.5 metres or 20 metres if the new-style number plate is used. You will be asked two vehicle safety check questions. You will then be examined on your general driving and on one reversing exercise. The reversing exercise will be chosen from; reversing around a corner; turning in the road; reverse parking. You will also be asked to drive independantly for a period of approximately 10 minutes following either a series of signs or diagrams provided by the examiner. You may also be asked to carry out an emergency stop exercise. At Simply the Best School of Motoring, we are not satisfied with meeting the minimum requirement, we aim to take you way above the necessary standards.
